About this Resource

This resource is a result of collaboration involving professors from George Brown College, Centennial College and Ryerson University.

The Digital Education Strategies team at The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education, Ryerson University, supported the design and development of this resource by providing technology selection advice, multimedia production and usability testing.

The resource content is highly applicable across all nursing programs. There is emerging and urgent need to create safe, stimulating learning environments for nursing students to 'practice' new skills, techniques and critical thinking.

Access to good clinical and laboratory experiences is becoming increasingly difficult. In recent years, there has been a marked decline in access for students to acute care patient beds. Furthermore, there is ongoing discussion regarding the ethics of sending students into complex clinical situations. This resource helps to address these needs.

Three unique content modules and an interactive game are designed to promote the application of knowledge and skills related to establishing therapeutic nurse-client relationships, recognition of domestic violence, and assessment of suicidal ideation.

Intended Audience

This resource is intended for students as well as practitioners in nursing. The learning modules can be incorporated into nursing courses or used for self-study. Practicing nurses can use these learning objects as a review or self-test to enhance their current practice or prepare to move into a mental health and/or home care practice setting.
